M.N.F.L. (PS3) RULES
M.N.F.L

Code of Conduct :

I expect all players to be respectful and show good sportsmanship to other players. We must keep in mind that this is a game and ultimately it's about having a fun and developing new friendships. We expect everyone to be competitive and do whatever it takes to win, but within reason and the confinement of the rules. Our goal is to have a clean league that is as close to the NFL demonstrate sportsmanship. It is not about GLITCHES AND CHEATERS.
COURTESY RULES:
1. Alow your oppon. a couple minutes to set his depth chart and or audibles
2. Some of us have babies/toddlers we must watch while playing(wife law: you have time for madden, you have time for baby) if your oppon pauses the game, give him a few mintues as he may have to tend to something, be it a baby, the doorbell or Dinner acting up

Depth Chart Substitutions:

Player substitutions may only be made at the beginning of the game, halftime and Kick Offs. NO player may be moved from the position he plays to different position, with the following exceptions:

• LBs can play any LB slot (OLB, ILB, and MLB) and DE in nickel, dime and quarter packages
Exception: there are certain LB(s) and DE(s) that are "tweeners" and they may be use in those positions.
For example: DeMarcus Ware of the Cowboys is listed as a LB, but could be a DE in their 4-3 look.
• CBs can play any CB slot (LCB, RCB)
• Defensive linemen are interchangeable
• FS/SS are interchangeable
• TE can play FB, IF he routinely plays that position in the NFL. Use good judgment here.
• WR: WR: CANNOT be put at TE and RB Your 1 WR can only play the 1 or 2 hole. You CANNOT put your 1 WR in the Slot in the depth chart. You can change him in packages.

Examples:

**A WR /TE may not become the ball carrier on a play out of the
backfield, ever

**A WR/TE may not run routes out of the backfield on a pass play. If you audible to a play that puts a receiver at FB for example, you must hot route him to stay in and block rather than run his pass route.

**If an audible is called in which a WR is moved to a TE or RB positions you must hot route them to block. THEY CANNOT GO OUT into the pass pattern/pass route.

** If an audible is called in which a RB or TE is moved to a receiver position, they may run routes or block.

You can use the offensive sub packages as long as it is not violating the TE/WR sub rule. Examples:

In a bunch formation or 4 or 5 WR set, you can sub your TE with any player allowed in that package( i.e. WR, RB etc.) If you audible to I formation, goal line, 3 wide or two TE set, and your receivers are now lined up at TE or RB, they are not eligible to go into the pass pattern/pass route. Again they must be hot route to block. You can run the ball but he must stay and block. If the WR is at RB and you have a running play in which they get the ball, it is not allowed. You cannot sub a WR in for a TE in any base formation not first (1st) TE or Second (2d) TE. You can sub the WR in for the TE in trip and bunch packages if allowed. If you want more speed on the field run 3 wide or 4 wide sets.

• KR and PR cannot be a starting player unless he is normally the return man. For example: Marvin Harrison does not return punts or kicks. If they don't do it in the NFL, they don't do it in the MNFL.
Package formations are ok, since it's in the game. However, if you are found changing around players in your depth chart that violate these rules, you will be warned and subject to league penalties. Also if you are found using package formations to just gain an advantage over the defensive AI (i.e. putting a WR at TE or FB) then you will be subject to league penalties.

Offensive Game Play Rules:

This section is about the specific nuances of game play. Remember "sim" football is the name of the game – if you wouldn't see it in the NFL on Sunday, do not do it in M.N.F.L.
1. Running Out The Clock/Draining The Clock: Can only be done with 3:00 minutes left at the end of each half.

2. No Huddle: You can huddle whenever you want inside of 2:00.Outside of 2:00 you can no huddle once in a while to try to catch the defense off guard.don't make it your base offense.

3. Fourth Down Rule: You make "go for it" on 4th down in the following situations:
• 4th and 5 or less on or past the 50 yard line
• 4th and 3 yards or less on or past the opponents 40 yard line
• If you are in the Red Zone, (on or inside your opponents 20 yard line), you can do what you want.

******Otherwise you must punt or attempt a field goal.********

4. Audible: You are allowed to make 2 audibles and 2 formation changes during the play.Once you have made an audible or formation change you must wait for the defense to set before snapping the ball.

5. Motioning: You can motion a player to check the coverage, but you may not continue to motion a player to gain advantage in the route.
6. Goal Line Formation: Goal line formations can only be used in short yardage situations and on the goal line.

• Short Yardage: 1 yard or less on 3rd or 4th down
• Goal Line: Within the opponent's 10 yard line

7. Quarterback scramble: Your QB cannot drop back pass 10 yards to pass the ball.

8. The Double Pass and any other trick plays are only allow twice per game. Trick plays are not to be bases of a player offense.

Defensive Game Play Rules

1. Pre-Snap Movement of Defenders: All shifts are allowed ( LB, DB, DL)
You are allowed to move your DE outside the tackle as long he is no more than a shift or the TE position.

You are allowed to manually move any player on defense, but you cannot move your defensive lineman "back" off the line of scrimmage until after the ball is hiked.

2. Manual control of players after the snap: You allow to take control of any player

3. Defensive Play calling: I would like everyone to keep the defensive play calling realistic.
• Quarter defense is only allowed in 3wr or more set or 2 or 3 down of more than 10 yards. You may use a pass defense late in games when it is definitely a passing situation.

You must call a defense against an offense, i.e. no FG defense, etc.

Again, we are trying to simulate the NFL, so if it is not commonly seen in the NFL, it should not be seen in our league.

End Of the Half Rule:

If in the last 30 seconds of the first half you are in your opponent's territory (past the 50 yard line) you made go for it on 4th down (no matter the distance).

Fourth Quarter Rule:

1. If you are down by more than 3 points you may go for it anytime during the fourth quarter (if you are on or past your own 45 yard line), otherwise you must punt. Once you have taken the lead or tied the game, the normal league rules apply.

2. Within the last 3 minutes of the game a player can do whatever it takes to secure the victory as long it does not violate standard league rules.

For example: If a player has the lead and has a 4 and 1 on their own 20 yard. They could go for it to secure the victory.

If they are down by 1 point, they could go for it.

No Huddle can be the base offense

Blow out Rule/comeback:

If you down 30 points going into the 3 quarter you may "go for it" on 4th down until you are 14 points down or you enter the 4th quarter at which time the 4th quarter rules would apply.

Special team game Play Rules

1. Onside Kicks: One onside kick is allowed any time during the game with the following exceptions:
• If you are up by 14 points or more ( Not Allowed)
• And not trying to run up the score (Not Allowed)
• If you are more than 21 points starting the 2nd half, you may onside kick as many times needed to pull within 7 points or less. This would also apply if you are still behind by 21 points starting the 4th quarter. (allowed)
• 4th quarter rules would take presence within the last 3 minutes of the game

Please remember the sportsmanship rule, so the onside and bloop kicks are not to be used in an effort to run up the score. If you have not used either it does not give you the right to use it for that purpose. If we find out that was your purpose we will forfeit the game.

2. You may fake punt once a game at any time.

3. Fair Catch Interference- intentionally running the punt return in the defender to cause a penalty is not allowed.

4. XP and FG- The defense is allowed to move their players as long the player does not come across the line of scrimmage.

demonstrate sportsmanship and have fun.
